During a plein air paint out date at the Leighton Art Centre, I tried to capture the varied terrain of the area. I especially love the "lumps and bumps" of the land, in particular the very prominent knoll visible from this vista. The day was overcast with hints of the sun peeking through every now and then. I've stayed true to the colours of the day which switched from hazy, almost misty rain, to breaking sun. It makes for the greatest challenge in plein air...that's what I love about painting from life outdoors!
